Last year we started the tradition of having a few friends over for food, fun, and fireworks on the 4th of July. Our neighborhood is one of the few in the area that allows fireworks, which is always great for the kids.
We had out the new (from the trash) tall slide and a couple of small plastic pools in the backyard and the kids had fun swimming and jumping on the trampoline. Everyone brought food to share and mostly we just sat around talking. Once it got dark and the rained stopped, we trooped outside for the highlight of the evening: fireworks.
Jakson is funny because he asked all night long when we were finally going to do fireworks and then when it came time to do then, he got really nervous. You can see him carefully watching the sparkler so that it does not get out of control in his hand.
