Traveling with Children

As most of you know, our family has been doing a lot of traveling lately-and most of it in a car. During our adventures, we have discovered that traveling with a kid is much different than traveling as adults. Before, our we were always rushed, wanting to get places as fast as possible with no interruptions. In fact, at the end of the trip we would often compare with others the incredibly fast times that we had gone from one place to another-I guess the layman calls this bragging.
Well, with Jakson that kind of traveling just doesn't work. Ineveitably, we will just get on the road and Jakson will decide to mess in his diaper, usually about an hour into the trip, he notices that he has been confined for awhile and begins to scream-and you can only take so much screaming and or whining in an enclosed car. So, on this last leg of our Vegas trip, we finally gave in and came to the conclusion that for the next few years, we are going to have to take it easy. We stopped at a park in Kingman, which is about halfway between Vegas and Phoenix. It only added about 1/2 an hour to our trip and Jakson fell asleep right after playing-better for everyone! So, as we take off for our second 5 hour drive this week, we want you to know that we won't be breaking any records of time, but we will all be happier people when we reach our destination.
